On Sunday, January 29, 2017, I led the first service of Overcomers Church (a nondenominational church plant that is now meeting at Studio 101 in Walhalla, SC). We are a safe place where those who have been marginalized by the institutionalized church can find love, acceptance, and help to live for the Lord.
God put within my heart to start a church when I was called to ministry in 1997. The time has come to make this dream a reality. Our resources are small, but our God is big! We are off to a great start with a very young group full of children and youth. If you are looking for a place full of business meetings, committees, and religious trappings, this isn’t for you. If you are looking for a casual place to worship where you can be real and not have to fake who you are inwardly and outwardly within a fancy building, Overcomers might be the faith community for you.
Many of you who follow this blog do not live near the Upstate of South Carolina. This does not exclude you from being a part of this ministry. We invite you to pray with us about the following things:
- God would provide someone to lead worship so I can focus my attention on pastoring and leading the church.
- God would provide the funding for us to do business decently and in order. We are currently meeting and do not yet have the funds to get our tax ID so we can have our own checking account and manage God’s money in a more orderly fashion. We are approximately $500 short of what it would take.
- God would provide additional people who have a heart for church planting – people who are rooted in their faith yet possess a non-judgmental spirit. That these people would be servants who will help us work in the community to reach the community.
- God would provide funding for signage so people will know where we are located.
God is able to meet these needs, and we are trusting that He will. People are beginning to partner with us. If God would lay that on your heart, or if we could meet a need for you please contact us below.
